Synopsis
Driven by the need to make money when he is failing to land a large enough catch to make ends meet, a young fisherman decides to accept a group of Chinese illegal immigrant on to his ship after a chance meeting with an unscrupulous fishing merchant. Thinking that the boat will sail directly to Scotland, he decides to house them in the ship’s hold with little food or water and no sanitary arrangements. What’s more, he has to keep them hidden from his father, te Captain, for fear that he will lose everything he’s worked for if they are found out. In order not to attract the suspicion from the authorities when they return to port, they need to bring home a large catch. As a result, the short trip that was planned turns into several days at sea as they go in search of the catch of a lifetime. As the days go on and the sea gets rougher, the young fisherman and his compassionate crew-mate begin to realize that however good their intentions, their plan is set to end in the most shocking and tragic circumstances.
